Business Shoots with Richard Torble
Richard Torble, what can I say about this guy, a friendly face, fab personality, and yeah he’s alright at his job photography or something haha im joking, Richard is a photographer who mainly does business headshots, good ones too!!
I was lucky to have met Richard through a mutual friend and had the pleasure to meet his lovely colleague Mike, a fellow photographer. Richard and Mike had their own cushty little studio set up in the heart of Faversham, perfect for that line of photography. On first meeting them both I was extremely nervous for I had only been fresh in the industry for a few months, but they gave me a chance. My first client was a lovely lady, I could of asked for a better client, a mature lady gave me the task to work with not only mature skin but dealing with keeping them looking as their professional selves and not some made stranger who they don’t recognise.
The client remarked how she never wore makeup and to be honest she really didn’t need it so I don’t blame her but I explained as in these intimate studio set ups lighting can be harsh and washes out the majority of the makeup so even to look natural you have to wear some degree of makeup.
Trusting my judgment I prepped the ladies skin with Illamasque Hydro Veil Prima, along with E.L.F eye primer to avoid any creases. Prep of the skin I believe is one of the most important steps to take when applying makeup as I believe depending on the skin whether dry, oily or combination this stage when the skin is properly prepped to the individual will make sure you have a smooth application when it comes to your foundation base, this I find is extremely important with men plus a toner to tighten those pores. For a base I wanted to keep away from heavy coverage as so I used No7 Beautifully Matte my client didn’t need nor did I want her to feel that she is covered in makeup which can be quite uncomfortable for someone who hardly wears any. A light eye shadow Sleek Natural Palette to frame her eyes, top lid, MAC Zoom Lash mascara in black, light eyeliner to make the eyes pop MAC Crème Liner in black. To finish I applied a light soft blush to compliment her pale complexion Sleek Pink Lemonade, and a neutral lip, prepped with Carmex I used Mac Lip Liner in Spice and MUA Shade 11 lip colour.
The majority of Richards’s clients are professional business entrepreneurs, so not used to being in front of many cameras but Richard has a way of easing his clients into this environment which to some may be intimidating, he guides them through the process of photo taking, continues conversation with ease making the customer feel at ease.
I am extremely lucky to have worked with Richard on several projects and continue to work with him presently working on more and more location shoots as well as studio pieces.
